Johnny Weissmuller (Međa, danas predgrađe Žitište, 2. lipnja 1904.- Acapulco, 20. siječnja 1984) je bio američki plivač, peterostruki olimpijski pobjednik. Nakon plivačke ostvario je i uspješnu karijeru filmskog glumca.

Johnny Weissmuller. 1904-1984. American swimmer. One of the most outstanding swimmers of all time, Johnny Weissmuller won five Olympic gold medals and set dozens of national and world records. His stellar performance as a competitive swimmer helped to focus the attention of Americans on the health benefits of the sport.
He became even more famous as a motion-picture actor, most notably in the role of Tarzan, a “noble savage” who had been abandoned as an infant in a jungle and reared by apes. Johnny Weissmuller, the Olympic swimming champion who went on to fame as Tarzan of the Jungle in the movies, died at his home here Friday night, according to a funeral home. He was 79 years old.
